THINKING ISABELLE...let me know soon, I've the jeep on jackstands and two tires off, otherwise I'll keep tearing it apart
Getting maintenance, projects & preparing for Moab...I'll put it back together for Isabelle, the pics on NWW BBS looked fun

Okay, I kinda hacked it up, but at Zip's request, this thread has been split off from Jon's for-sale thread...

I will try and get someone to head up there with me to see how the washouts are now. Last 2 times I went up there I turned around cause the washouts were just too bad.

Well if you look at the new Izzy trail threads on NWWheelers you will see vidoes from the guys who have been working on it. The difficulty looks increased but it looks fun. Little daunting that most the rigs in the video have 44"+ tires.

First time I ran Izzy, it was on stock tires. At that time Jon's YJ still had open diffs. And with us was a Ford Ranger with a 2" lift, 33's and open diffs.
Really would hate to see this trail turn into a buggy only trail.

I get it now, I thought you were talking about the roads to the trail being washed out not the trail itself.
Cool it does look like fun

Re: Reiter run - Feb. 21?
Actually last time I tried we did turn back because the 2nd creek crossing had been washed out.
I am running Izzy first thing in the morning so will take pics and video to post later.

Re: Reiter run - Feb. 21?
I will work on getting some videos posted but none of them do what happened to Izzy any justice.
My friend and I went up on Saturday morning, met up with JkKat and her friend from nw-wheelers and headed up Izzy.
Due to high volumes of rushing water most of Izzy has been altered to an almost unrecognizeable scene.
May creek bed is about 5' lower then it was previously and the path we normally use to cross it is completely washed away, you now have to cross about 50' down river. ALL of the dirt normally associated with a river bed has been removed and the amount of rocks and boulders pushed from higher up makes for a wet rock garden.
The next small river crossing is not that bad, but the washout to the left makes for an off camber descent where you are relying on your rock traction to keep you from rolling over. We found that once you get to a certain point, if you floor it thru to the other side you are better off. I realized later that there is an old trail around this but not having been on it in years I can't attest to its availability.
Next river crossing is better, the rocks have all fallen in place to make for a steadier crossing. this was where I had to turn around last time I was up....it was completely washed out back then.
The next and final river crossing is about the same, Off camber right, relying on the logs that someone has placed to keep you from rolling down the slope into the river. This will be "enjoyable" for any of us Tippy rigs.
Izzy rock face is no different.
About a half mile from the rockface is where we had to stop and turn around. It appears that the river had broke from its normal path and used the road which it promptly removed all the dirt. Little rocks you may have not paid any attention to previously have now been exposed to be boulder size obstacles. I am not saying that we could not work our way past it and it does look like something Justin would be trying but the group I was with this trip was not up for such a challenge. The largest boulder at this point is about 5' tall and will most likely require a winch to get up and over because of the angle. From this point the trail will slow your pace down considerably and everyone would have to be guided thru one at a time. I walked past this point but it just kept continuing with the boulders and no sign of relief so I just walked back.
Oh and another group will be heading up Izzy on the 21st. "BEST" wheeling group?!? I don't recall hearing of them and don't know their rig capabilities but it will be apparently 5 rigs, so if there is any bottlenecking you are looking at increased waiting time.
I will post the vidoes hopefully tomorrow, I have to pull vidoe from two different cameras tonight. I was going to wait for them but wanted to give a heads up to what I experienced.
JKKat was able to show me Trail of Doom which I have only heard about. I am not sure if anyone here has tried it but its on the way up Izzy and fun so we could hit that on the way. Not sure why its called Trail of Doom, it wasn't all that hard and didn't require lockers.

Thanks for the update, yeah the BEST group is my other club that I run with. I posted up the run for them on the 21st, I plan on running backdoor for the R-n-L's, and front door for the BEST group. So, you R-n-L's will need to keep up a good pace

WOW! Thats too many rigs for Izzy. I may split off and run the other trails if it looks like Izzy is just going to be a traffic jam.

I'll take the BEST group off in another direction, we can hook up later when the R-n-L's come back down, there's lots of other challenging trails that I haven't been on up there

Re: Reiter run - Feb. 21?
I have been on Izzy with as many as 20 rigs, it really all depends on rig capability. There is always that stocker who thinks he can hang that holds everyone up. If Izzy wasn't so messed up at the top I would say we could handle it but I think if we attempt the last part we will be in some serious bottleneck.
I won't be able to get the videos up tomorrow, I am at Harborview where my dad was admitted and will probably be here all night. I will try again tomorrow.
