today's question
Jon, Justin, and Young went to Whistling Jack's Lodge and shared a room. They each payed $10, as the night clerke said that the room was $30. When the manager arrived in the morning, he found that the night clerke over charged the drunks, being that the thursday night special is $25. He gave the 18 year old blond waitress 5 dollar bills to deliver to the gentlemen. Knowing she could not split the ones equally, she promtley pocketed $2 on her way. After giving them each $1 back, it seems that now they have each payed $10, received $1 in return having now payed a total of $9 each... If 3 x $9 is $27, and Stephanie has the other $2, What happened to the last dollar?

Re: riddles (open to anyone)
There is no "last dollar". They have still overpaid by $2, and the 18 year old blond waitress who is smarter than all three of them has the $2 in her pocket.

Those are good ones when you tell them without writing.

Next question
If a man and a half, can eat a pie and a half, in a minute and half. How long would it take three men to eat 6 pies?

Just taking a stab at this, I'm guessing that since the half man wouldn't be capable of eating anything, all of the pie eating must be getting done by the whole man, which means he is eating 1.5 pies in 1.5 minutes. That is 1 pie per minute per man. So 3 men could eat 6 pies in 2 minutes.
Edit, corrected the miss-type above - the fingers type faster than the brain can think...

Re: riddles (open to anyone)
Cool, that's two wrong answers so far. By the way a half of a man can eat. That's a given in the question.

Well if the half man can eat too, then my answer would be 3 minutes...
Re: riddles (open to anyone)
I also say 3 minutes

Re: riddles (open to anyone)
Well you might have the right answer, but using your formula above, after adding in the half a man, I don't see how you got there. Maybe you completely corrected your whole angle at it. You'll have to explain to get all the credit. (If your just letting other people guess still, that's cool too.)

Okay, here is how I came up with 3:
First you doubled the number of men, so that would double the output in the same amount of time, meaning 3 men could eat 3 pies in 1.5 minutes. But we want them to eat 6 pies. That is double the number of pies 3 men can eat in 1.5 minutes, so we need to double the time - now we have 3 minutes.
So 3 men can eat 6 pies in 3 minutes...

Re: riddles (open to anyone)
Ok, so you are on a journey in a strange land, and you come to a y in the road. There is a sign that states "Between these two paths, you must choose. One of these paths leads to the town of truth, and the other to the town of lies. Choose wisely. If you find yourself in the town of lies, you will never escape. To help you make the right choice, there just happens to be a representative from each city stand right under this sign. You may ask these men a question, and they will answer, but be carefull, you may only ask one question and then both will answer." One man will always tell the truth, and the other man will always lie. What question will you ask?

Re: riddles (open to anyone)
It's something like: I would ask each dude which road to take. First I walk up to the liar ask him which road "he says the other dude would tell you to take the left road." He's a liar so I have to assume the truth teller would would say take the right-handed road. Then I walk up to the truth teller and ask him which road "he says the other guy would tell you the left-handed road is the road to take." Which he only speaks the truth about what the liar would say, which would be a lie.
End result: Take the opposite road of either answer.
End result: Take the opposite road of either answer.
Re: riddles (open to anyone)
I would simply ask each of them which road leads back to their home town. The liar would have to lie, and point to the town of truth. The truth teller would have to tell the truth, and point to the town of truth.
