Diagnosing unit bearings? Empty Diagnosing unit bearings?

I just started my Vanco brake install, and with the caliper and rotor removed, I can feel a slight up and down wiggle in my hub, maybe 1/32".

How much is normal? I'm thinking there shouldn't be any play in them at all...

I've read any play is bad. I can't imagine there won't be a little play there if you run beadlocks with 37" tires. You have the plastic warmed up so I would replace them. They make two differant unit bearings, so be sure you get the right ones. Timkin bearings are more $ but worth the extra cost. Have fun let me know what you find. Do you have a number for those brake lines, let me know how that goes

Mark, these are the brake line #'s (front right and left, I didn't order new for the rear):

1 Raybestos BH38861 Brake Hose $14.17 1 $14.17
1 Raybestos BH38862 Professi... $14.51 1 $14.51

I ordered from amazon.com

So once I got the unit bearing off, it was obvious that the play was actually coming from the ball joints. And once I got the knuckle off, the lower ball joint just flops around with zero resistance. Obviously trashed.

So I think my unit bearing is fine...
