Fri Jan 30, 2015 3:14 pm by Zip
Tuesday February 3rd at 7pm, at Ricardos restaurant in Factoria, unless someone comes up with another suggestion
Dues are up for 2015
Take a look at your calendars for this summer to discuss an out of state run this summer. Also for when and where'd you like to go?

Re: Snow run Feb 2nd
I asked the wife and she has nothing planned. So, that means we are 99% sure on joining on this run. Still waiting for friend to check in.

So my friend got the time off, but his wife couldn't, but he'll still join us with a passenger. I checked the weather forecast for Feb. 2nd and it looks like it'll be snowing.

Re: Snow run Feb 2nd
Update:
Wife schedule herself to work Sunday the 3rd, well that's the Superbowl and I told her she had to have that day off (She's a football fan to). So, she traded with someone to work Saturday and won't be able to make the run on Sat. 2nd. I'm still in, but it's kinda funny because this run was for the wifes to go play in the snow and now they both have to work...lol.

Re: Snow run Feb 2nd
Hey Bro,
Homey has talked to us about a snow run, is this it? Sounds fun, maybe we'll go (w/ our now B-a$$ ties) with my jeep. Lee's still needs to be trailered, but if we could drive mine we'd definately be up for it. What do you think?
This trail is do-able, Homey went on the 1st, they went 1/2 through but went back the next weekend & made it. They saw snow-shoe-ers who were shocked b/c they had never seen jeeps in the snow. They were really nice, which is a nice surprise b/c sometimes people out in nature don't appreciate the wheelers.
Hey-O to Justin! Long time no see, hope all is going well!

Are we going to have a confirmation thread/poll/open seats thing? I'll have an open seat, then rear bench is in but that's coming out this week.

Re: Snow run Feb 2nd
OK, I've about five other rigs coming along Saturday also...I'll post up if they have any open seats
Some things that were brought up is if everyone brings a few pieces of wood we could have a nice fire at the bowl to get warm & relax around. Also, ensure that you bring enough supplies to hold you over if necessary, food, water & gas, you know what you need...and a snow chair, sled & inner tubes
Expecting 2-3' of new snow by Saturday...

Need to ensure that you're up front, if we need to separate that can happen also...the goal is to reach the bowl, hopefully we'll have some good snow that packs, once packed there shouldn't be to much of an issue
I'll be monitoring the avalanche situation throughout the week, below is the current status for the backcountry areas;
ZONE AVALANCHE FORECASTS
* OLYMPICS-WASHINGTON CASCADES NEAR AND WEST OF THE CREST-
...AVALANCHE WARNING...
HIGH avalanche danger below 7000 feet Tuesday. Avalanche
danger decreasing Wednesday becoming CONSIDERABLE below
7000 feet.

Re: Snow run Feb 2nd
Make sure you guys pack accordingly, I was up there on a run on Sunday the 27th and almost all of our group had to be pulled out at least once. I can't make it on this run with you, my wife only lets me out of the house every other week.

Current snow conditions
ZONE AVALANCHE FORECASTS
* OLYMPICS-WASHINGTON CASCADES NEAR AND WEST OF THE CREST-
...AVALANCHE WARNING...
HIGH avalanche danger above 4000 feet and CONSIDERABLE
below Wednesday. Increasing HIGH avalanche danger below
7000 feet Wednesday night and Thursday.
THURSDAY AND THURSDAY NIGHT
The next front should cross the Olympics and Cascades
Thursday morning. Very strong southwest crest level winds
should change to westerly. Heavy snow at slightly warmer
temperatures should change to moderate to heavy
orographic snow showers. This should lead to another
avalanche cycle Thursday. New deep wind or soft slab
avalanches are most likely on lee slopes. This should to
continue to be mainly north to east aspects but should be
likely on other aspects as well. Natural and triggered
avalanches are likely on Thursday. Avalanches may step
down to layers from mid January. We do not recommend back
country travel near avalanche terrain on Thursday. Back
country travel is likely to be difficult due to deep new
snow near and west of the crest. It should be a good day
to head to a ski area as long as driving conditions are
not to difficult as well. These conditions may last into
Thursday night.
&&
Backcountry travelers should be aware that elevation and
geographic distinctions are approximate and that a transition
zone between dangers exists. Remember there are avalanche
safe areas in the mountains during all levels of avalanche
danger. Contact local authorities in your area of interest
for further information.
