Idea for Jeep Empty Idea for Jeep

I've been toying with the idea of cutting the rear part of my roof off...sort of making my xj a truck (or hummer like, lol). I have drawn up some things and I've seen some done, and I really like how it looks. Just wondering what everyone thought about this. Be honest. I plan on going all out doing it the right way if I go for it too. If cut right, the hatch will slide forward and weld into place perfectly, keeping my rear third tail light, license plate, and rear window/wiper in the factory spot. Other than that, just a little fab for a bed, and a tail gate will be done. I was also going to come up with some sort of cage idea after it was done, because that section might be a bit weak.
Let me know what you all think...and remember, I want you to be honest! Twisted Evil

I really like the link to the one Zip posted. I actually really like them when there done right and not looking like a quick hack job. Think of it this way, the less body you have the less you can damage. You will lose some interior space but the "bed" would be nice to put thing's you dont want or need inside , like gas and stuff. I say go for it, but remember there's no turning back.....

besides the rounded fenders that orange one is exactly what i had in mind. Mine will be a thought out process that i will take my time with. But for now, I think its a go for sure. I will wait til after our sleepless run, and maybe into winter a bit to jump on it, but for next season...the Heep will have a new look for sure...and hopefully some new paint....... Twisted Evil bounce

I still want some more opinions though!!!!!

That orange one looks pretty good to me. Looks like he used the back half of the bed of a Commanche. The body work looks really clean.

I say go for it. Twisted Evil
