Tuesday February 3rd at 7pm, at Ricardos restaurant in Factoria, unless someone comes up with another suggestion
Dues are up for 2015
Take a look at your calendars for this summer to discuss an out of state run this summer. Also for when and where'd you like to go?

Need Help with 8.8 pinion bearing install!
I was wondering if any one would be willing to help with installing my 8.8 pinion bearing...I dont have a press to do it. I would be willing to pay money for help or beer/pizza, or both if really needed haha. Every other shop I call wants to do the entire 8.8 rebuild kit, not just the bearings. They want $600-800 depending on what shop so I'm hoping to save a little bit! I'm willing to drive it to your shop!
If anyone has a shop recommendation that will only do the bearings by themselves please feel free to tell me about it!!
Thanks guys!!

Re: Need Help with 8.8 pinion bearing install!
Here is what I have heard/understand!!!!.....The bearing pre-load on 8.8 can only be set with the carrier out. The reason for this is pinion crush sleeve is set to inch lbs thus setting pre-load on bearing! (Not like a Dana 44 or 60..were you torque the pinion nut to 180 ft #'s (or to spec.) and are done). So it would be nearly impossible to set the pinion bearing up (in an 8.8 rear end) without the carrier out!!
That's why the shop wants to do the whole thing. Should be able to replace bearing and reuse other stuff....but who will do this????? I can't and don't know who can/will do this!

Re: Need Help with 8.8 pinion bearing install!
Thats what I figured would happen. I think taking it to a shop would be the best route. It has this whining noise coming from ther rear end. Its not the locker and there is no broken teeth or anything so I figured it was the bearing. I checked the pinion nut and it has some play in it. So I assume thats bad. Am I on the right track here with just going and getting the axle basically rebuilt?
EDIT: Just got off the phone with Olympic 4x4 and he said he could do the job parts/labor for $460. Thats pretty good! All the places around here wanted at least $600+. TCs Offroad wanted $800+, But they probably hate me from that whole ARB incident haha
