Fri Jan 30, 2015 3:14 pm by Zip
Tuesday February 3rd at 7pm, at Ricardos restaurant in Factoria, unless someone comes up with another suggestion
Dues are up for 2015
Take a look at your calendars for this summer to discuss an out of state run this summer. Also for when and where'd you like to go?

Replaced the front trackbar
With Jon's (white knuckler) help last night, I got my front trackbar replaced. Swapped out the really weak one that comes with the 3" FT kit for a JKS one. The JKS is about twice the diameter tubing, and much better mounting arrangement at the frame end.
After the swap, my Jeep handles like it did off the showroom floor. Gone is a dead spot in the steering that has been there ever since I installed the lift. Gone is the persistent wobble in the steering. And I haven't been able to induce death wobble since installing it.
Jon welded a tab on the nut for the axle end since there isn't room to fit a wrench in there. That will make it a much easier job if I ever need to take this one off. We had quite a struggle getting the nut off the old one. Jon finally was able to glob enough welding solder on the old nut to keep it from turning so we could back the bolt out, but it was a pain because there wasn't much room to get the welder tip up in there without shorting the electrode to the axle bracket.
The whole job took about 1.5 hours start to finish...

Re: Replaced the front trackbar
NICE! Im installing my Rubicon Express front track bar today! hopefully itll stop a little bit of my wobble I get on the highway. I did my rear a few weeks ago and centered my axle, rides WAY smoother!

Re: Replaced the front trackbar
It's working great! My Jeep is actually fun to drive on the highway again, in spite of the big tires. I've even had it up to 65 mph with no problems.
The TSLs are still loud and rough riding, but I'm not gripping the steering wheel with a death grip just waiting for it to wobble...

Re: Replaced the front trackbar
I finished putting my front track bar on last night. I still get some shakin' goin' on. But then again I haven't got it aligned since I put the new axles in. Guess where Im goin' this morning.
