Nice pictures Young! I haven't had a chance to look at mine yet, but if any are good I'll post them.

Thanks for leading Zip! It was a great run, lots of fun. Thanks to everyone who gave me a snatch strap or helped me winch today. And yes, I owe $5 in fines - winched 3 times (if the two pulls on the same hill count as two), and strapped twice...

Rock'd-n-Lock'd members/candidate;
Myself & guest (Leo)
Justin & Stephanie
Young & (2) guests?
Bill & (1) guest (Chris)?
Guest;
John H & guest?
Started with a breakfast at the 410 Cafe in Buckley, table was set & waiting, everyone was pretty prompt...breakfast took a few minutes, five cups of coffee later I was probably as wired as Justin seems anxious Razz

Headed for the Y with some stopping at the Chevron for supplies of whatnot. Aired down & unloaded the jeeps and headed up to Evans, the road started to get a little sloppy as we got closer. Pulled into the lower lot and it was like a jamboree, probably 20+ rigs waiting to enter the 311

I approached some folks I recognized and asked them what trails the were running, they offered up the 311 and an invite to join them. Of course a polite 'no thank you' was mentioned. We agreed to go ahead and run the 102, since the snow was only about 5" in the parking lot

Young being 'on call' for work initially stayed on the roads and was planning on meeting us as we exited the top of the 102, at the bottom of the 198. Read on to find out more...

We headed down the 102, the trail to the immediate left as you enter ORV park, Justin went out to the road and met us down further on the trail. As we re-grouped and headed down I ventured to far past where the trail turns up. As I climbed what I thought was the trail I climbed up on a stump which required a winch pull backwards to get going again (1st $).

As we backtracked and got on the correct trail (102) which was pretty un-challenging to us all, as no one winched, correct me if I'm wrong, as I was in front. At times i wondered if the group took another route as I had to wait several minutes at times Question

As we topped the 102 at the (open) gate, crossed the road to continue up we encountered a tree & root ball across the trail. After some discussion, Justin got out his chainsaw and cut the trunk off in hopes that we could manuver the root ball with the winch (no way) just to big. At this time we invited Young to come on down, which he did and was on the other side of the tree (good thing also, more reading on this too)

After several attempts to winch is was agreed upon to straddle the downhill side of the trail, which initially looked pretty precarious. The plan was to stay close to the root ball, hook up the winch to a tree on the other side of the root ball and drive around, with the thought that if I slid off the trail the cable would keep me up on the trail. Picture a jeep on a rope swing silent as it was I made it no problem, except the winching pulled my battery down and I stalled Exclamation BUT, with Young already on the other side he was able to reach me with some jumper cables and we were on our way again

I forgot to mention that after I graded & packed down the route around the root ball no one else required a tether, and just drove around it Suspect

We continued up to the 198, had a quick discussion with Young, who was persuaded to run the 198 with the group. As we climbed we started to encounter more snow, and slippery little vertical lifts that caused some of us to perform multiple at times tugs, pulls & winching. Again, I thought everyone took a different route as I had to stay with the discharged battery.

We stopped for a quick lunch at the intersection of 198/197/520, again had another discussion on which way to go, the decision was to continue on the 198 towards the campgrounds. This was done with no adventure, again being up front I can't really say what happened in the pack confused

As we re-grouped on the road, we decided to head up to seek out deeper snow, which we did. Following Justin up was fun, just high-balling it all the way up to VIRGIN SNOW, just past the end of the 520. Running out of time we started heading back down, some how I seemed to lose everyone AGAIN, and thought that they had taken another route. SO, I waited, and waited, no respones on the CB's, finally Justin rolls through and mentioned some one got stuck...so I'll let everyone own up to their on ($$$) I believe I owe ($1.00)

Sorry if this seems to long winded, to those that were there, please add on, correct, defend &/or admit any errors that I might have been made in the telling of this tale jocolor Great run with good people, thanks for going cheers

Zip, the reason you waited so long at the end is that I ran off the road into the ditch on the easy stuff, and had to get strapped back up onto the road by Young. Embarassed

Here are some pictures from today, also posted on the r-n-l website:

A stump happened to it lol! Now it matches the other side.

Lost the marker light lens on that side though. Anybody got a spare lying around?

Bill, the matching fenders add character to your Jeep! I have a "zip" off air tool cutter--we can made some real "flat fenders" instead smashed fenders....... Want too? What a Face

Awesome pictures... I'm jealous I couldn't make it. I figured I better not ditch out on work too much, since that pays for Jeep mods Very Happy After the new year, I am planning to install my "belly up" and V8 swap cheers Will plan to post before/during/after pics...

Eventually I'll do tube fenders like yours Jon (probably even PSC), but in the meantime, these still work for keeping me legal on the highway. Smile

Legal, smmmmegal! I would have a 450 HP-- 383, but no I had to settle for a 350 FI with about 260 HP. I have crossed some legal boundaries with no side markers, tires out too far (of the fender well), and a cracking windshield--soon to be illegal (thanks to the last Rieter run)...

You're welcome! If you want the full size version, let me know and I'll send it to you. It's kinda grainy due to the lousy light conditions I was shooting in, but not too bad as long as you don't want to print it really large...
