I'll let my Brother know, do you have any idea what you'd want for it?

All yours MM. I was more asking for compatability, I have a friend with an 98 TJ who I can give my 06 Hardtop to but don't know if it fits.

I will be looking to get rid of mine after I locate a halftop that will work on 06's

The top can be made to work, but might require a little grinding on the latches. I don't remember which way it goes, but there are minor differences between 97-02 and 03-06. The latches are wider on one of the styles. The style with the narrow latches work on any year, and the style with the wide latches needs a bit of grinding on either side of the latch tongue to fit on the narrow model years.

Jim, Bestop makes a halftop for 03-06. From what I've read about it, it isn't perfectly watertight, but pretty good. Another option is the combination of their wrap-around windjammer, bikini top and duster. Not as waterproof as the regular halftop though...

hmmm...i didnt know that there were differences in the latches on the early and late tjs....I have a 2000 hardtop on my 2004. it fits fine, including at the latches.

The only problem i was aware was the vents....97-02 had the vents in the hardtop whereas the 03-06s have the vent in the tailgate....so, if you put an 03-06 top on a 97-02 jeep, you wont have the vent...not sure it's really a problem though.

not to rain on anyone's parade, but make sure to check out the cost of rear glass for the hardtop before buying one without...when i was shopping around, it was 400-600 bucks for just the glass....but if you dont care or just put in plexiglass or something like that, $125 is a killer deal.
