February RnL meeting
Fri Jan 30, 2015 3:14 pm by Zip
Tuesday February 3rd at 7pm, at Ricardos restaurant in Factoria, unless someone comes up with another suggestion
Dues are up for 2015
Take a look at your calendars for this summer to discuss an out of state run this summer. Also for when and where'd you like to go?

Rubicon/Fordyce 2012
A few people have posted a desire to run Fordyce Creek in 2012. Sue and i have never run Fordyce and maybe we should get down there before it closes down(for whatever reason). Sierra Trek is happening August 9-12 in 2012. As many of you already know this is the only time they lower the flow rate to cross the creek. From what I have read the flow rate of the creek is lower naturally in late August and September. Pirate4x4.com has a Fordyce creek flow rate posted on their web site. I know it's early but is there much interest in heading to Rubicon/Fordyce? Any info, please share. Sue and I would like to do this run instead of Moab this year. There is some great video about Fordyce on youtube.

I still have the Fordyce water district phone number. They lower the water a few days to a week before the Trek.

I wonder how tough it will be to 4 wheel and find camping with sierra trek happening during the same week? Anyone been down there close to the event?

Good videos to get the itch going...
...Here is a link to three videos that show Winch Hill One, Water Crossing # 3 and the Committee Crossing. The water level at the time was around 300 cfs.

Well, it's Jess' prerogative to change her mind, you just need to go along w/ it there's still time to lobby
Homey/Shuey/Mumblewood, isn't the 3rd river crossing where we turned around? The post on Pirate says that in the video it's running at about 300cfs? What was it when we were there about that? or higher?

Jess and I were not at that crossing either, nor did we plan on being there!
BTW Zip it was a joint decision not to do any out of state jeep trips, just other priorities this year (take alot of vacation time to do everything)!

Re: Rubicon/Fordyce 2012
My choice would be August 18-25. During Sierra Trek would most likely be a traffic jam on the trails. I'm flexible, so if someone has a particular date that they would like to go lets get it out there. How many definite maybes do we have going? We should probably set a date so we can start making plans.
