Trailer Maintenance Empty Trailer Maintenance

Post  MadMark on Sun Apr 27, 2014 1:59 pm

I know everyone checks there trailer more than me, so this is what i found when i did a walk around.
I always kick the tires to see if one is going soft every time i use it. I noticed the right rear tire had some movement when i kicked it, so i crawl underneath to check it out. The u-bolts holding the axle in place had come lose and the wires to the brakes had separated from the connectors. Snapped the u-bolts off trying to tighten them up so before i headed to the parts store figured i better check out the entire trailer for any other problems. 3 of 4 brake arms were frozen in place, one was so bad i had to cut it off the axle. A complete wheel bearing repack, 4 new wires conneted, 2 new u-bolts and a complete LH brake assembly. the trailer is less than 3 years old. Its a good thing the stuff they use on the roads is non-corrosive!!! Shocked
