Snow Run on March 8th

I need to get out and grind up some snow and let the kids do a little sledding. I have been up the 7030 road outside of greenwater (Greens Pass)in previous years, but I am not sure if a $20 .00 snow park pass is needed? I am open to information or suggestions of other areas to play.

Anything up there that is considered a snowmobile groomed trail you will not be allowed to run your jeep. Once the forest service closes the road, wheeled vehicles are not allowed on the groomed trail and subject to a ticket. Too dangerous to have sleds coming head on around a corner at high speeds.

Yes you are right, they get cranky if you go on the groomed trails. The 7030 , and spur roads 7033, 7036, and 7038 are all listed as open, although they may be impassable, ....for some vehicles. In my brain and reading thru the lingo on the nfs website if we are not using the groomed trails or parking in there plowed lots, it does not seem that we would need a snow park pass. I guess it is all subject to interpretation unfortunately.

The next road on the right passed Rd 70 is open for vehicles. Haller pass I think.if snow is low enough you can park on the side of Rd 70.. We could do tinkham. Rd off I 90. Easy to get to and no snow park.

If we park as soon as you turn onto the 70 road we should be ok, large parking area on the right. How far do think we can get up the 7030 road? The next road i saw past the 70 road is Crystal river road along the White River. Tinkam would be ok, its close. I don't think theres going to be new snow anywhere after today. I'm open for either location. Lets go wheeling.

That's where I was thinking on parking spots..we tried for lonesome lake a couple of years ago. We can decide the area when we find out what works for people. ..yes let's get out I have a 36 pack that needs to be drank.....

I am good with either location. I have not been out Tinkham, so I am not sure how it compares to the 7030. I am up for something white with low avelanch hazard. I'll roll with the judgment of someone who has been to both areas.

I will be truthfull here........my real goal is to get a profile picture of my jeep not in my shop.  Ha. Ha

Traveled back to the eastside to go back to school today and tinkham was getting hammered!!!   Definitely should be a lot up there, but agree with MadMark on new snow. Extended forecasts seem to show moisture, but snow level sky rockets by the weekend.
