Re: Rubicon Trail******Attendance Is Now Full********
Okay, just going to throw a few dates out there and see if they work for everyone... We are actually trying to find some dates that don't require us taking official vacation time... How does Sat. July 11th through the 14th or July 25th through the 28th sound? This is one day to get down there, 2 days to run the trail, and one day to get back. This is for those of us that want to make it just for the Rubicon Trail. Otherwise, if anyone wants to take the whole week and do more trails/areas (i.e. Fordyce), that would be an option too.

Something to check would be to make sure there are no events happening either of those weekends. It would be no fun to be stuck in traffic on the trail during a Jamboree...

I'd rather run the trail in 3 days. Two days means theres no time to stop and swim or whatever. I'd also take a week off and run the Barret Lake trail which is close to the resort so you wouldn't have to reload the jeep on the trailer.

We did it in 3 days (2 nights camping on the trail), and that was a very leisurely pace.

After thinking about it, we were stopped ALOT working on Pats CJ. I was so worried about his jeep that it seemed like we missed a lot of the play areas. Two full days would work, but I'd still like to hit the Barret Lake trail. Thats a one way in, camp at the lake, one way out trail.

Yep! We're back now and I will get back to everyone in a couple days about the dates we are thinking about going with... I want to try and find out if there are any events going on in July that we might want to avoid so that it's not too crowded...

Re: Rubicon Trail******Attendance Is Now Full********
Alright everyone, take a look at this link I found...
http://www.rubicon-trail.com/Rubicon/calendar2003.html
Even though the link says "calendar2003", it comes from a website that was supposedly last updated: December 12, 2008. So.....I think the info in the link is up to date, as far as I can tell.... Anyway, it looks like July and the first part of August might not be a good time to go based on closures for Jeep Jamboree and other Jeep club events. How does the later part of August look for everyone? I believe we went about the third week of August, 2 years ago and there was not much traffic on the trail at all... Go ahead and post up your thoughts/preferences and we can hopefully nail down some dates soon!

I'm game for what ever the club decides. All I need to do is put the time on my calendar.

May want to click on the links provided to each of the Events. The dates don't match exactly and the Jeep Jamboree lists 2 other events for later in August.
JJUSA0921E 4th Mark A. Smith Rubicon Trail Adventure 2-day - Aug 27-29 - The Rubicon Trail CA
JJUSA0922E 4th Mark A. Smith Rubicon Trail Adventure 3-day - Aug 27-30 - The Rubicon Trail CA
Still, I don't think any of those events are big enough to be of any concern, but I have never been on the trail so can't speak from experience.
