installed 9" coils up front......pics inside!!!

Post  xj97jks on Mon Dec 01, 2008 12:49 am

I had a new Rubicon Express upper control arm mount welded on at 4 Wheel Parts, and while they were doing that, I had them throw on the 9 inch coils. Here are the results:

With the 35" Toyo MT's:

With the 36" Irok's:

No more spacer....just a big ass coil. Lifted the front about an inch or so.

This picture shows both before on bottom, and after on top. You can tell the difference in lift if you look at the shock. There is a lot more shock showing in the after pic! They are from different angles, but I guess you get the point haha

I asked lots of opinions, including Justin's, on whether or not I should stick with the 6.5 coil and 2 inch spacer I had, or just replace the spring/spacer with on big 9" coil. I figured since I had already bought them, and they were just lying around, I would give it a shot. See how it works I guess!!! They ride a little stiffer, but I do love how it looks level now though. No more lowered front end!!! Very Happy

I'm excited to see how it works on the trail.....and I'm getting an ARB compressor soon (finally) for my locker in the front and (maybe) a detroit locker for the rear, so I should be set for the next outing!!!

the new mount is a lot stronger, and is one solid piece....not just a thin bracket made of tin hahaha. they did an excellent job welding it on, and it looks pretty solid.
