8.25 LSD

Post  2KXJ on Wed Jan 30, 2008 4:49 pm

I just swapped out my d35 last week for a 8.25 with limited slip and my wife says I'm on a budget now. Does anyone know if it's possible to adjust the LS to provide less slip, or so that it "locks up" a bit more often?
Thanks,

Rich

I can't afford a locker, I can't afford an 8.8, I can't afford a d44, I can't afford...

Not aware of anything, but there is an old-timers trick where you apply a little bit of braking force with your parking brake to force it to engage the limited slip clutch when it wants to slip.

I used to use that trick on a Dodge pickup with a LS rear.

I know on Bryson's D-35 LS he put the clutch packs in backwards on accident and now its fully locked. Hasnt had a problem with it so its been like that for a few years now

Not so sure I want to do a "Lincoln" locker, I have just heard a lot of stories involving broken axles. Keep in mind, I still use my Jeep as a DD at times and for a lot of surfing and snowboarding trips.
I'm kinda interested in reversing the clutch pack, I haven't heard of that before. I wonder if it would be the weak point and break before the axle. I assume you could always just take the pack out if it breaks and be open again rather than breaking the axle. What do ya think?
